Two of the four men were arrested.

A MAN was robbed of R11 000 cash outside Ashley Post Office just after 1pm yesterday (Wednesday, 30 August).

According to Ashley Residents Neighbourhood Watch controller, Joe Ribeiro, the man was allegedly followed from a bank in Pinetown. “When he arrived at the post office, he was approached by four armed men who demanded his money. Two of them fled in a Polo and the other two in a taxi,” said Ribeiro.

The two men who fled in the Polo were chased by police into Tshelimnyama, Mariannhill where they were arrested.

Ribeiro said the two other men fled with the money and police are still searching for them.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele confirmed the incident and said the two men that were arrested will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Friday, 1 September).

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
