Suspected robber falls to his death in Hillcrest

The man was fleeing from police and security guards when he jumped off a cliff.

HILLCREST police are looking for the relatives of a man who fell down a cliff in Hillcrest yesterday, (Tuesday, 28 November).

According to Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Capt Linzi Smith, police were responding to a housebreaking in progress when the incident happened.

“Police together with security guards who were also responding to the housebreaking gave chase to the suspects who fled the scene when they saw police.

“The men ran and jumped off a cliff, with an approximate 30 metre drop,” said Smith.

KZN Search and Rescue were called due to the rough terrain.

“Only one man was found, he was still alive but died shortly after being found. The circumstances around his death is still under investigation,” added Smith.
