Climbers awarded KZN colours

Twenty three climbers were awarded with their KZN Colours for Sport Climbing in Lead and/or Bouldering.

KZN Climbing recently awarded 23 climbers with their KZN Colours for Sport Climbing in Lead and/or Bouldering at the awards ceremony which was held at Vegas Sport Cafe in Pinetown.

The guest speakers at the ceremony were Johandri Fourie and Josh Munstermann who have both represented South Africa in Sport Climbing.

Fourie and Munstermann encouraged the KZN Climbers to put in what it takes not only to be selected for national but also international competitions with Sport Climbing an Olympic Sport from 2020.

Caitlyn Burwood, Clarise Moodley, Danielle Visser, Erin Sterkenburg, Hannah Shepard, Johandri Fourie, Kamryn Govender, Nothando Gumede, Rebecca Courtney, Riya Beekuram, Shradha Jugoo, Siphosethu Gama, Tafui Shangase were the women who received the KZN Colours for Lead.

The men who received KZN colours for Lead were Benjamin Cotton, Brendan Kuhnert, Cameron Matthews, Christopher Wallace, Darshan Pillai, Faran Steenkamp, Keshav Gounden, Olwethu Mkhawanazi and Reece Andersson.

Cameron Matthews, Benjamin Cotton, Faran Steenkamp and Christopher Wallace received KZN Colours for Bouldering.

KZN Climbing is also hoping to hold a Paralympic event in 2018.
