Treats for Highway’s wonder women

The theme for the event was, I Am Woman: Being Fully Human in a Restrictive World, with guest speaker, Dr Nompumelelo Thabethe.

DOZENS of women were pampered at an empowering women’s breakfast at the St John’s the Baptist Anglican Church in Pinetown at the weekend.

The dress code was black and red and while the women snacked on a few of the nibbles before breakfast was served, a few feet away in the kitchen, the men could be found chopping, cutting and cooking up a storm.

“This is a way for us men to give back in some way. Our hopes are that women aren’t just given a once-off pamper by men, but that it continues throughout the whole of women’s month and beyond,” said senior pastor, Forbes Maupa.

The theme for the event was, I Am Woman: Being Fully Human in a Restrictive World, with guest speaker, Dr Nompumelelo Thabethe.

The church’s next big event is its spring dance fund-raiser on Friday, 7 September from 6pm at 5 Payne Street in Pinetown.
