WESTVILLE Senior Primary School’s SPAR Star of the Month is Grade 7 learner, Travis Gross-Mitchell.
He was awarded the Victor Ludorum trophy this year at both the annual inter-house swimming gala and the annual athletics events.
The Victor Ludorum trophy is awarded to the learner who has accumulated the most points throughout the competition. Travis has excelled by winning both of these, a rare achievement.
Travis is an enormously popular learner who was voted in by his team members as the house captain, swimming captain and athletics captain.
He was also appointed as the captain of our school’s cross-country team. He particularly enjoys long-distance running and regularly wins his inter-school races.
Travis is polite and well-mannered. His teachers describe him and responsible, reliable, committed and conscientious.
He excels at academics and mathematics is his favourite subject.
In Grades 4 and 5, Travis enjoyed playing hockey, but as a result of a clash in training schedules, had to choose one particular area of focus, and swimming won. Travis names backstroke as his favourite swimming stroke.
He said that when he grows up, he would like to study to be an accountant.
