KLOOF High School’s SPAR Star of the Month is matriculant, Kayleigh Timmer.
At the school’s annual speech day, Kayleigh Timmer received the Dux trophy as well as awards for English (1st in subject and the Gwyn Williams Trophy for Creative Writing), history (1st in subject and the Essay and Research Award), life orientation (1st in subject), mathematics (substantial improvement), visual art (Kevin Meyer Memorial Trophy for 1st in Subject) and visual art (best exhibition).
She was also the first scout from 1st Pinetown in 25 years to achieve her Springbok badge for Scouts, and also the first girl from the troop.
The Springbok Badge for scouts is the highest award in scouting and focuses on service and leadership.
Besides completing other levels of advancement activities, Kayleigh had to lead a camp for 15 scouts over three nights and she had to plan and lead a hike for 10 people over a distance of 30km in the Drakensberg over terrain she had not seen before.
“We congratulate Kayleigh on these outstanding achievements,” said Kloof High School’s principal, Dawn Lefort.
