The heat is on! SA Weather Services warns of extreme temperatures

The SA Weather Services has advised people to try stay in cool shaded areas and drink lots of liquids to stay hydrated.

TRY not to leave the comfort of your air-conditioned home or office as you could dissolve in a pool of your own sweat.

The SA Weather Services have issued a warning regarding the extremely high temperatures in KZN today, 26 February. People have been advised to try their best to remain indoors.

The temperature today is 34 degrees and is expected to increase.

The weather service also shared some tips to follow during the heatwave: 

  • Wear hats and sunscreen when outdoors.
  • Try to stay in cool and shaded areas.
  • Drink lots of liquids to stay hydrated.
  • Watch children, the sick or elderly people for signs of dehydration and heat exhaustion.
  • Ensure your pets are kept well hydrated and out of the sun.

In the case of any medical emergencies, operations director at Rescue Care Paramedics, Garrith Jamieson said people can contact them on 086 073 7 911.
