Treats galore for SPCA pooches

More than 300 delicious doggy biscuits were handed out among the dogs in the kennels at the Kloof and Highway SPCA.

EACH of the dogs at the Kloof and Highway SPCA were in for a literal treat as the students from the 1000 Hills Chef School dished out hundreds of delicious, and healthy, dog biscuits last week.

The foundation phase students were tasked to assist the local SPCA and did so by baking batches of the tasty treats. The group made more than 300 of the biscuits to hand out to the dogs in the kennels.

“We are based in the upper highway and support local charities. It’s also a great exercise for our students as they learnt something different and they got to see first hand the fruits of their labour. We want them to be involved and understand the value of community,” said one of the owner’s of the school, Desiree Maarschalk.

The Kloof and Highway SPCA’s Barbara Patrick, said, “We would like to thank everyone from the 1000 Hills Chef School for visiting our SPCA on Friday, 22 February and spoiling all our dogs with freshly baked dog biscuits for International Dog Biscuit Day, which was celebrated on Saturday. We appreciate your support, always.”
