Pop in to Kloof Conservancy’s fund-raiser

There are four gardens available for viewing at the Kloof Conservancy's Pop-Up Gardens this weekend.

Garden 1 (34 Alexander Drive, Winston Park)

Garden 2 (6 Controversy Road, Assagay)

Izolda van der Merwe and Tanya Visser’s beautiful Assagay home is one of the highlights of the Pop-up Gardens event. The many varieties and different display options for succulents, which Tanya’s home demonstrates, will certainly inspire many people to try something new in their own gardens.

This garden includes a relatively high percentage of non-indigenous species but has been included as a Pop-up Garden as this is a reality in many gardens and the Kloof Conservancy welcomes the discussion and debate this will generate on the value of indigenous species.

Added extras:

Pop-up shop with gardening tools, watering cans and other products on sale.

Coffee and drinks for sale.

Garden 3 (4 David Road, West Riding)

Michelle and Miles Steenhuisen’s garden illustrates various phases of development and landscaper, Miles Steenhuisen, will be on hand to explain how he designed and shaped the garden.

Added extras:

Aloes and succulents grown by Miles will be on sale.

BirdLife Port Natal will provide information on making your garden friendly for birds.

Talk on succulents at 12pm on Saturday and at 1pm on Sunday.

The School of Garden Design will be at this garden with information on its gardening programmes

Visitors to Garden 3 will also be able to purchase a few aloes and succulents, grown by the homeowner.

Garden 4 (13 Valley Drive, Forest Hills)

The home of Helen Terblanche contains an award-winning garden that was on display in 2018 but is stunning enough to feature twice. The garden is set on the edge of a riverine forest and is designed to blend seamlessly into the natural surrounds.

Added extras:

There will be butterfly experts on site from LEPSOC to chat to visitors about developing your garden to attract butterflies.

Art in the Garden is an exhibition of paintings by six local artists: Cheryl-Ann Antonizzi, Ann Avenant, Felicity Jackson, Val Sperryn, Sheryl Sciocatti and Carina Weineck. Payment by Zapper will be available.
