With July being Mandela month, the MEC is using Nelson Mandela’s legacy in education as motivation: “During this month of July the world celebrates the life and times of our Former President Nelson Mandela who himself was a champion of access to education and emphasised that education is the most powerful weapon which one can use to change the world,” said Mshengu. “We will use this countdown as an opportunity to reflect, analyse and to explore what it is we must do to take the legacy of Madiba and other liberation stalwarts forward. Madiba has left us a legacy and we dare not squander this moment to take our struggle forward, unite our people, radically transform our society and advance the development of our country through education,”  MEC Mshengu added.

The first day of the National Senior Certificate Examination is scheduled for 16 October.
