Kloof man stabbed during home invasion

The three suspects were arrested in KwaDabeka.

THREE men who stabbed and robbed a Kloof resident in his home appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Thursday, 11 July.

The suspects, both aged 23, are facing charges of house robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

They were arrested in KwaDabeka on Tuesday, (9 July) during an intelligence driven operation between Pinetown Crime Intelligence and Durban Metro Police.

Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele said it is alleged that on Friday, 5 July at about 8.30am, the victim (68) was seated in the verandah at his home in Pen Hill Place in Kloof when he heard the dogs barking.

Manqele said when the man went to investigate, he felt something hit him from behind.

“The victim fell down and when he tried to reach for his firearm he was overpowered by the suspects who were in possession of knives. The victim allegedly sustained several stab wounds to the body.”

A firearm, 22 Magnum special, jewellery and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

“The firearm that was taken during the robbery was recovered from the suspects and they were also charged for possession of unlicensed firearm,” added Manqele.

Their case was remanded until Thursday, 18 July  for bail application.
