AN intelligence driven operation between Pinetown Crime Intelligence, Pinetown Detectives and Provincial Rapid Response Unit yielded good results when four suspects were arrested for murder and attempted murder yesterday morning (Monday, 27 April).

According to Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, all suspects were arrested at Bester area in Ntuzuma.

The suspects were wanted in connection with murder and attempted murder cases which took place in Dinkelman Road, New Germany last week Friday.

“It is alleged that on Friday, 24 April at about 7.20am, a 58-year-old security guard was opening the gate at a company in Dinkleman road in New Germany for the company manager to enter the premises.

“Two suspects arrived and attempted to rob the manager of his vehicle. Two shots were fired at the vehicle of the manager and the security guard was fatally wounded. The suspects fled the scene in a white Toyota Etios with unknown registration.

One suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and one was in possession of six rounds of ammunition. Both suspects were detained at Ntuzuma police station and are appearing today at Ntuzuma Magistrate Court for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

‘Two other suspects were detained at Pinetown police station,” said Manqele.

The suspects will be charged for murder and attempted murder and are expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate Court tomorrow, 29 April 2020.
