Five arrested for Wyebank house robbery

The suspects allegedly robbed a 58-year-old man at his house in Wyebank

THE final four suspects were arrested by Pinetown detectives this morning, (Thursday, 21 May) in connection with a recent house robbery.

Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, said it is alleged that on 9 May 2020, a 58-year-old man and his neighbour were at his home in Circle Drive, Wyebank when five suspects stormed into the yard.

“The Wyebank man was robbed at gunpoint of cash, a  cellphone and car keys but fortunately his vehicle was not stolen,” he said.

Manqele said one of the suspects was known to the victim.

A case of house robbery was opened at Pinetown SAPS for further investigation and on 13 May, the suspect known to the Wyebank man was arrested and appeared in court where he was granted bail.

“The four other suspects were arrested this morning and will be charged for house robbery and are expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon,” added Manqele.
