Highway resident creates awareness to fight HIV/AIDS

It is Youth Month and KwaNgcolosi resident, Phakamani Ndlovu, reminds young people about the risks of 'unsafe  sexual activities’.

UPPER Highway resident, Phakamani Ndlovu is passionate  about  youth  and  community  development.

Phakamani, who is the founder of Phakamani Empowerment VMMC and condom project in eThekwini KZN, started his projects 10 years ago.

The 32-year-old wants to remind young people to be safe as most of them are at home because of the lockdown.

“My aim is to assist fight against  HIV,  STIs,  unplanned  pregnancy  and  alleviate poverty attacking  the vulnerable  youth  residing  in the KwaNgcolosi area  and  all  other  parts of  eThekwini,” he said.

Phakamani Empowerment VMMC aspires to educate  the  community  about  the  importance  of  condomising.

“We do condom  demonstrations and  educate  the  community  about  the  risks involved  in  ‘unsafe  sexual activities’. We also distribute  government  Max  male  condoms,  Maxima  female  condoms and  Max  lubricant  in  the  community.”

Phakamani said he is also desperately looking  for  sponsors in  order to  sustain  his project  since  he is  using  his own  vehicle.
