Malvern family held up by six gunmen

The men fled the scene in the family's vehicle along with cash, cellphones and a TV set.

A MALVERN family was held up at gunpoint and robbed on Monday evening by a gang of six armed men. Their vehicle, which was stolen during the home robbery, was later recovered.

Blue Security’s control centre dispatched response units to a Malvern property in response to a call at about 7pm on Monday.

Six armed men, wearing balaclavas, entered the property and held up the family at gunpoint.

The robbers stole a TV, jewellery and cash before they fled in the family’s car.

A description of the stolen vehicle was circulated and a tracking team later located the abandoned car in Newlands.

“A few items were recovered in the vehicle but the TV and cellphones were missing,” said Blue Security’s community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.
