Kloof Rotary Anns needs your support

The local non-profit organisation was forced to cancel its largest fundraiser of the year due to Covid-19 and needs your financial support to help kick off its Christmas hamper project.

WITH the cancellation of its largest fundraiser due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Kloof Rotary Anns have appealed to Highway residents to make a donation towards its much-needed Christmas food hamper project.

“It was with regret that we had to cancel the 28th Open Gardens planned for 3 and 4 October due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” said the Kloof Rotary Anns president, Gill Collinge.

The event usually raises about R50 000 and its cancellation meant the non-profit organisation would not be able to financially support a number of recipients or its projects.

“One of which is the Christmas food hampers, which are distributed in November to needy learners in Upper Highway schools. This is of great concern to us as most of these families are in dire need this year more than ever,” said Collinge.

Each Christmas hamper includes food items and luxury treats, from towels and t-shirts to backpacks and toys. Some of the items are also packed in usable buckets.

“With this in mind, we are appealing to our usual Open Garden visitors, and any others, to consider making a donation, in lieu of the ticket price, of R60 or any other amount. The Highway community is known for its caring. Please help us so that we can help those who have been identified as the most in need,” said Collinge.
