Learners ‘Gogh’ all out for Getty Museum challenge

As part of the challenge, the Grade 3 girls from St Mary's DSG, Kloof recreated famous paintings.

INSPIRED by the Getty Museum Challenge, the Grade 3 learners at St Mary’s DSG, Kloof were recently encouraged to recreate famous paintings at home.

They were learning about the history of art, mainly the difference between Medieval and Renaissance art.

“The girls found it so interesting to research the background behind the Mona Lisa and afterwards they did a fun quiz to see how much they learnt. They also drew some modern Mona Lisa line portraits. To end off the lesson I put out the Getty Museum Challenge to them. I was absolutely blown away by the response we had. Their creativity and ingenuity was outstanding,” said one of the Grade 3 educators at St Mary’s, Ruscoe, one of the Grade 3 teachers at St Mary’s.
