India Consul General visits Star College

His Excellency Niteen Subhash Yeola highlighted India's progress and encouraged learners to participate in upcoming competitions.

STAR College recently welcomed the Consul General of India, His Excellency Niteen Subhash Yeola, for a special Women’s Month celebration.

His Excellency received a warm welcome from the school community, with preschool learners waving both South African and Indian flags as he arrived.

High school prefects greeted him in an orderly formation, while the Head Girl, Shreya Ballyram, presented him with a bouquet of flowers.

Accompanied by principal Ahmet Kayya, Yeola toured the school and learned more about its history, values and ethos.

The visit continued with a special assembly featuring a programme of speeches, music, dance and poetry celebrating women and cultural diversity.

Addressing the gathering, Kayya welcomed His Excellency and expressed pride in the achievements and diverse talents of Star College learners.

In his address, Yeola highlighted India’s significant progress in science and technology while emphasising the important contributions women have made to Indian society.

He also encouraged learners to take part in upcoming competitions hosted by the Indian Consulate, creating opportunities for further cultural engagement and exchange.
