IEB 2020 matric results: Kearsney College

For the 10th consecutive year, Kearsney’s mathematics and science distinction rates have been at least approximately double those of the IEB.

KEARSNEY College had reason to celebrate when the 2020 IEB results were released as the average mark in five subjects, including mathematics, was a distinction.

More than a quarter of Kearsney’s boys achieved five or more distinctions and every boy achieved a university exemption pass.

The school’s headmaster, Elwyn van den Aardweg, said it was a fitting way to launch Kearsney’s centenary. “I’m indeed proud of the boys, staff and parents who showed the grit, hard work and tenacity to channel their passion to succeed during a very difficult year.”

The school’s average mark for mathematics is 80 per cent and 77.5 per cent for science. Dux and 2nd X1 cricketer, Matthew Strauss placed on the IEB’s Outstanding List for being in the top 5 per cent in six or more subjects, as well as in the top 1 per cent in English, history and LO.

He achieved 7 As (Afrikaans: 89 per cent, English: 95 per cent, history: 93 per cent, life orientation: 96 per cent, mathematics: 95 per cent, music: 92 per cent and physical science: 92 per cent).
