According to reports, the video was taken while the vehicle was travelling on the N3 near Hillcrest.

Greg Vogt of the Conservation Guardians said, “The site of three young men laying on a crocodile, tied to a trailer being transported is simply irresponsible. I can assure you that the permit issuer would not approve of the transport method. The risk to those young men on the back of the vehicle demonstrates the level of compliance the responsible person is committed to.”

The Highway Mail contacted the centre manager of the Crocworld Conservation Centre, James Wittstock, who debunked any wrongdoings.
“According to the regulations, the way the crocodile was transported technically is legal. The reason they were sitting on it was to ensure the crocodile would not struggle. Driving crocodiles you would prefer to not have them go over the edge and to add on that extra weight. It is about a 400kg animal with a tough skin. It will not harm the crocodile,” he said.
Wittstock also confirmed the people transporting the crocodile have a permit for the crocodile.
