Pinetown rapist receives 5 life sentences
According to reports, Muzi Cyprian Mngoma lured young girls and raped them in bushy areas.
A 45-YEAR-OLD man, who is serving three life sentences for three rape cases, was sentenced to a further two life sentences by the Pinetown Regional Court for other rape cases.
Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele said on January 2017, a 11-year old victim from KwaNyuswa was waiting for her aunt to fetch her at the Pinetown taxi rank before their trip to the Tshelimnyama area in Mariannhill.

“While waiting, the victim was approached by Muzi Cyprian Mngoma who told her to accompany him to buy a school uniform for his daughter because the victim was the same age as his child.
“The victim refused and the accused grabbed her and walked with her towards Lahee Park where he raped the victim,” said Manqele.
Manqele reported that after the ordeal, the victim went back to the rank where she met her mother and the matter was reported at Pinetown police station for further investigation.
In another incident on January 2018, a 14-year-old victim from the Inchanga area was sent by her mother to Pinetown to buy a school uniform and while the victim was looking for the shop, she met Mngoma who took her to the shop and they bought the uniform.

“After buying the uniform the accused told the victim to accompany him to his home because his child had the same uniform and was no longer using it. On the way to accused’s home the victim complained about the distance they had walked and wanted to go back.
“The accused grabbed the victim and took her to the nearby bushes where he raped her. The victim was found by a passerby who took her to Pinetown police station where the case was opened and the docket was assigned to Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit,” said Manqele.
