Rescue patients host thank you braai for heroes
The RescueTech and Netcare911 teams performed a risky rescue earlier this year when one of the ladies fell into a gorge at the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve.
A group of grateful friends invited the RescueTech and Netcare911 team for a braai on Saturday, November 13 to thank them for their work and for rescuing one them after they fell into a gorge and had to be airlifted.
The incident took place in March when a hike with friends turned tragic for Jean Moodley after she slipped and fell into a gorge at the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve.

“No one saw me go down, I screamed and eventually alerted the ladies,” she said.
Moodley’s leg was broken and she sustained multiple fractures.
She was hiking with her friends, Nirvana Inderlall, Roshanie Reddy and Liesel Engler.
The ladies tried to help Moodley with the help of other hikers, but realised it was impossible to reach her. One of the friends, Inderlall left the incident to go call for help at the entrance.
While walking, she slipped and broke her leg, but she didn’t stop until she reached the gates of the reserve and raised the alarm with the reserve office.
RescueTech along with Netcare911 rushed to the scene, Moodley had to be airlifted from her fall and was rushed to hospital via helicopter, while Inderlall was also rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
With the two friends rushed to hospital, the other two friends, Reddy and Engler hiked back to the reserve entrance but unfortunately got lost as it was also getting dark.

“Liesel couldn’t walk anymore because she was so tired, we didn’t know where we were until we were spotted by Konrad from Netcare 911, who came to our rescue,” said Reddy.
The four ladies regard the rescue team as heroes and wanted to celebrate them for all the work they do for the community.
“We are so grateful to the team, they are the unrecognised heroes of our society, they did a miraculous job,” said Reddy.
The ladies hosted a braai for the RescueTech and Netcare911team to thank them for their work.
When the ladies were asked if they would hike again, the answer was a loud yes.
“We will definitely hike again but this time we will inform RescueTech and Netcare911 before we do,” said Moodley.

Moodley is still recovering from her multiple fractures and Inderlall now has a plate and eight pins on her leg and is on her road to full recovery.
