Support Kloof SPCA, buy a ‘purrfect’ calendar
The Kloof and Highway SPCA 2022 calendar and colouring booklet is a fun way to help create awareness for animals.
THE Kloof and Highway SPCA recently launched its 2022 calendar and the Be Kind to Every Kind Colour Therapy Booklet. It is a fun way to help create awareness for animals as well as the environment, which is also in desperate need of care and protection.
The calendar and booklet producer, Janine Kyle, said the generosity of the sponsors during such difficult times, together with the artistic talent of Kerry Carter, made the calendar and booklet a reality.

“We urge the community to buy the calendar, which costs R75, as the funds generated are for the animals at the Kloof and Highway SPCA,” she said.
Kyle explained that the name Be Kind to Every Kind was chosen to create awareness for the plight of all sentient beings; from dogs to cats, horses, birds, bees, wildlife and those used for entertainment, food, medicine, fashion, scientific advancement as well as creatures of the sea and exotic pets.
“We hope that the colour therapy booklet will create awareness as well as bring some joy while colouring in the designs of talented artist Kerry Carter. They are on sale for R40,” she said.
Kyle extended her gratitude to two sponsors, Virbac and Bravecto, for making this initiative possible and Kerry for her wonderful creativity, kindness and love for animals.
The inspiration:
The Kloof and Highway SPCA is situated in the mist belt of Kloof, on the beautiful property known as Glenholme.
This nature reserve affords the blessing of an array of animals, including exquisite peacocks, geese, birds, chickens, tortoises, donkeys, monkeys, and dassies.
Many of the drawings in the book and calendar were inspired by animals that have spent time at the society or are resident animals. The tortoise, Benji, is 85 years old and is one of 11 resident tortoises. The baby donkey was one of 35 donkeys rescued from the skin trade.

Winter, the cow, was rescued as a small calf and is currently one of its resident animals.
The pound area houses cats and dogs that are either brought into the SPCA as strays, surrendered by owners, or are rescued by the organisation’s inspectors.
“Every animal deserves a second chance at a forever home and those wanting to adopt will be sure to find their next best friend among the many gorgeous kittens, puppies, cats and dogs. The cats and dogs depicted were all rescues, abandoned or abused. Demi, was a resident dog who was loved by everyone. She can also be found on one of the pages of the booklet with the heart on her chest. The drawings in the calendar include fauna and flora of South Africa,” said Kyle.
