The calf was found stranded in the Botha's Hill area by a member of the public.

The stray calf was found by a kind member of the public, standing alone in the Botha’s Hill area and brought it into the Kloof SPCA for safekeeping.

Kloof SPCA’s Brigitte Ferguson said the calf was fed and treated for ticks and kept overnight.

“The following morning a very worried owner arrived at our SPCA and filled out a lost report for his missing calf.

“We immediately realised that the calf in our care belonged to him and field officer Doctor, Mthombeni accompanied the owner and calf to the herd of cows where mom and baby were happily reunited with the hungry calf suckling on her mom within seconds,” said Ferguson.

She thanked the family that found the calf and ensured the SPCA was able to reunite mom and baby successfully.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
