BREAKING NEWS: Security guard killed during cash-in-transit heist in New Germany

Police have launched a manhunt for armed men who shot and killed a security guard in New Germany.

A SECURITY guard has been shot dead and another wounded following a cash-in-transit heist at Qashana Khuzwayo Road (Shepstone) in New Germany.

According to witnesses, three heavily armed men ambushed a cash-in-transit vehicle that had just stopped at a bank.

The scene is still active and police are searching for the armed men. Some part of Otto Volek Road has been reported to have been closed following a shootout with police. 

Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele said police are still searching for the suspects and no one has been arrested as yet.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111. This is a developing story.
