A message to mothers

Child and youth care practitioner reminds mothers how appreciated they are.

QUEENSBURGH resident, child and youth-care practitioner, Zonke Shazi-Hlongwane, wishes all mothers a Happy Mother’s day. With the passion of conscious parenting, the mother of three is also a founder of Ikusasa Ngelami, a youth development programme that is aimed to provide holistic development for children and their parents.

For Zonke, Mother’s day is a special day dedicated to honouring and celebrating not only mothers but mother figures for their love, sacrifices, and contributions to their families and society.
“I want to acknowledge the incredible work that you do every day. As a mother, you are the foundation of your family, providing love, support, and guidance to your children through every step of their lives. The work of motherhood is challenging, and it can be easy to feel overwhelmed or unappreciated at times.

“However, I want to remind you that your tireless efforts do not go unnoticed. Your love and dedication are the foundation of your family, and your impact on your children’s lives is immeasurable. This Mother’s Day, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on your journey as a mother and to celebrate all that you have accomplished. You are strong, resilient, and capable of overcoming any obstacle that comes your way,” she said.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, Ikusasa Ngelami and Zonkez Parenting Solutions will be having an afternoon of connection and reflection to explore the many ways that mothers and daughters can support each other. The High Tea for Mothers and Daughters will be held on May 14, 13:00 at 77 Monty Naiker Road, Durban.
