Missing Cowies Hill man Leo Govender found dead

The police in uMbilo are investigating a case of culpable homicide after his body was found near the road in uMbilo area.

THE family of Leo Govender have confirmed that he was found dead after being missing for nearly a week. Govender was reported missing on Saturday (February 10) after he had left home on Friday (February 9).

On Thursday afternoon, the family released a statement confirming his death.

“According to the information received from the SAPS authority, Leo has been found, and sadly, we will miss his loving presence. It’s a difficult time for the family, and we thank you for the love and support,” read the statement.

KwaZulu-Natal SAPS spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said the police in uMbilo are investigating a case of culpable homicide.

“This follows an incident in which a body of an unknown man was found on the corner of Sydney Road and Mutual Lane on Friday, February 9. He was later identified as a person that was reported missing in Pinetown last week Friday,” said Ngcobo.

The family further asked for privacy while they carry on with funeral arrangements which will be communicated.
