AKA’s alleged killers back in court, state adds charges
Five of the seven suspects in the AKA murder investigation returned to court today. The accused face charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, among others.
FIVE of the seven men accused of killing rap star Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his friend, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, are back in court today. The men made their first court appearance on February 29 at the Durban Magistrate’s Court.
The suspects are facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder, a murder charge for the murder of Forbes, a murder charge for the murder of Motsoane, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and five counts of attempted murder, and it was announced in court today that the state has also added two further charges of money laundering. The additional money laundering charges have been placed against four of the five suspects.
AKA and Tibz Motsoane were fatally shot on February 10, 2023, at close range outside the Wish restaurant on Florida Road. The multi-award-winner was just 35 years old. Motsoane was 41 at the time of his death. The duo’s death shocked the nation and made international news. Now, all eyes are locked on the case as people demand justice for the two men.

This morning, Lindokuhle Thakani, Lindani Ndimande, Eddie Myeza, Muzi Gwabeni and Lindo Ndimande appeared before Magistrate Vincent Hlatshwayo. Today’s appearance was for the verification of certain aspects in preparation for a bail application. The dates for the bail application are as follows: March 14, 18, 19 and 27.
The matter was remanded to March 14 for the bail application. The men will remain in custody in the interim.
The police announced in late February that two other accused, siblings Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande and Malusi Dave Ndimande, from Durban, were arrested by members of the Royal Eswatini Police Service at their rented flat in Zone 4 in Mbabane.
The Ndimande brothers appeared in court on Tuesday (March 5) in Eswatini in connection with the murders, and the extradition case has been remanded to March 12.
