UPDATE: Clean-up underway on the N3 after chemical spill

The clean-up team has advised that the road is expected to be opened this afternoon.

MOTORISTS are urged to use alternative routes as the N3 Durban-bound is still closed from the M7 in Pinetown following a chemical spillage just before the Spaghetti Junction this morning (June 14).

Reports this morning indicated that a few containers on a truck containing acidic chemicals fell and ruptured, causing a spillage on the major highway.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the clean-up is underway, and he has been advised by the clean-up team that the road will be opened sometime between 15:00 and 16:00.

Jamieson advised motorists to avoid this area at all costs.

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
