Suspect detained after burglary in New Germany

A suspect has been detained at the Pinetown Police Station after being chased and found with stolen items.

ELECTRONIC devices were recovered from a suspect after a burglary on Janine Place in New Germany. Blue Security reported that they responded to a resident who called for help after they spotted the suspect fleeing with a kit bag full of stolen items.

Blue Security area manager Idan Smollan said the chase led them into a river polluted with sewage.

“Our Tactical Team traced the suspect’s path along the river, leading to a dramatic chase. Despite attempting to escape, the suspect ran directly into our area community manager. In a desperate attempt to flee, the suspect turned back only to be pursued and apprehended by the manager. The stolen items recovered included two laptops, two iPads, a Wi-Fi router, three watches and various cables,” said Smollan.

The suspect and the stolen property were handed over to SAPS Pinetown, who attended the scene, and the suspect was detained.
