During this period, the centre gathered 11.3 tons of cardboard, six tons of paper, 7.5 tons of glass, and 234kg of other materials.
As part of its mission to maintain the beauty of Hillcrest, the KHBA provides a recycling centre where community members can drop off their recyclables. This initiative promotes a culture of recycling and helps keep the area clean and environmentally friendly.
“The tons of recyclables collected were processed through our centre and sent to responsible companies in the recycling chain, ensuring they are repurposed instead of ending up in landfill sites,” said Wendy Brown of the KHBA.
Brown extended her gratitude to both regular and new recyclers in the community for their support during the festive season. “A big thank you to everyone who contributed, and a special commendation to our staff who worked tirelessly to manage the influx of materials and maintain the tidiness of the centre,” she added.
