Author launches book to help people deal with emotions
Pinetown resident launches a book with the aim to help people who need to stop feeling emotionally overwhelmed in their lives.
AS a birthday gift to herself, Jennifer Strachan launched her first book, STOP recently, at the Westville Country Club surrounded by friends and family.
The Pinetown resident said she started writing her book in late 2023 with an aim to help people who need to stop feeling emotionally overwhelmed in their lives.

“A friend of mine was going through some emotional overwhelm and I remembered a lesson I had taught my eldest daughter. I taught my friend that lesson, she thought it was very helpful and so I thought it would be a great idea to write it in a book.
“I kind of left it for a while and then 2024 happened. Towards the end of it, I really had to deal with a lot of trauma and unresolved emotions. I had to navigate my own emotions, and I have two teenagers at home, I was trying to help them and be a good role model to them too!” said the author.
Dealing with her own emotional overwhelm, that of her children, and many of her friends, the mother of four said, “I realised that our parents did not sufficiently teach us how to deal with our emotions, all because our parents didn’t learn either! It is a cycle that continues until someone stops and learns.
“I have written a short book, the chapters are not long and the concepts are easy to understand. I am hoping to be able to take this book and its lessons into high schools in KZN and teach it to the students.”

She added that the world is not a very nice place sometimes.
“People can be really mean to one another.”
As a person who loves helping people, Strachan said she could not think of a better day to share this book than on her birthday.
“It is my gift to the world that desperately needs better tools to help them ensure that their emotions do not hurt the ones they love.”
