The book, also available on Amazon Kindle, draws from Clegg’s journey as a cancer survivor, his lifelong experience with muscular dystrophy, and his appreciation for nature’s quiet lessons.
Born with muscular dystrophy, Clegg has never let his condition define him. His mother played a significant role in shaping his mindset, ensuring that neither he nor his twin brother, who shares the same condition, saw themselves as different. “She never allowed the world to treat us differently, and she never allowed us to think differently either,” he reflected.
Clegg, who studied at Technikon Natal, now known as the Durban University of Technology, credits both his mother’s unwavering support and his deep connection to nature as major influences on his creative process. “I find comfort in the rustle of leaves and birdsong,” he explained.
When he isn’t writing, he often sketches outdoors, using his fine arts background to capture light, movement, and emotion on paper.
His personal mantra is simple but powerful: If I can encourage one person, then I will change the world. He believes that encouragement is contagious, one inspired person can uplift another, creating a ripple effect of positivity. “One encouraged person speaks to another and in turn another. Eventually, you have a culture of positive people,” he said.

While Waterfall remains home, Clegg’s words have travelled far, reaching readers around the world. With more books in the works, he hopes to continue inspiring others.
“If my words bring comfort or encouragement to even one person, then I’ve done my job,” he said.
