Learners and bakers make a difference for children fighting cancer

Participating in the Watercrest Mall initiative, the learners also teamed up to sell cupcakes across the mall.

JOINING forces with bakers from across the Upper Highway area, Hillcrest High School learners baked, iced and donated over 300 cupcakes in support of the 2026 Cupcakes of Hope campaign. Participating in the Watercrest Mall initiative, the learners also teamed up to sell cupcakes across the mall, helping organiser, Genevieve Liebenberg of Mugg and Bean Watercrest, achieve the targets set for the day.

“Once again our learners enthusiastically volunteered to help with this year’s Cupcakes of Hope campaign at Watercrest Mall,” said Hillcrest High School principal Denise Knight. “Working after school and during the school holidays, they baked and decorated cupcakes, then spent the day at Watercrest Mall selling their cupcakes, and those donated by the other bakers. In total, over 3000 cupcakes were donated and sold on the day!”
