Kloof learner returns from swimming competition in Peru

St Mary’s DSG Kloof congratulates their learner for returning with a bronze medal from an international swimming competition.

ST Mary’s DSG Kloof learner Jessica Carmody returned home from the FINA Junior World Swimming Championships in Peru. The tournament hosted swimmers from 82 countries around the world.

The Grade Nine learner swam in 10 races consisting of heats, semi-finals and finals and had the honour of representing South Africa at the Opening Ceremony. Jessica swam the 100m Freestyle in the mixed-medley relay, and the team won a bronze medal.

She is set to swim again at the KZN Premier Provincial Championships which take place in December.

St Mary’s congratulated the learner. “Jessica’s endless hours in the pool and determination have certainly paid off, and St Mary’s wishes her all the best for the championships at the end of the year.”
