Call for volunteers at trail marathon

Proceeds from the Upper Highway Ultra Trail Marathon will be used to support the ‘green areas’ through which the trail run takes place.

THE Kloof Conservancy has called for volunteers to marshal at Upper Highway Ultra Trail Marathon (UHTM).

The trail marathon is a new event on the trail-running calendar and will cover 42.2km through many of the ‘green areas’ in the Upper Highway.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, December 10.

“It is organised and managed by a dedicated UHTM team. Proceeds from the event will be used to support the ‘green areas’ through which the trail run takes place,” said Kloof Conservancy.

Candotti said the Kloof Conservancy will marshal the section from the Impangele/Kloof Falls Road intersection to the Memorial Park parking area on Alamein Road.

“We will need eight volunteers to assist with marshalling from approximately 06:00 until 12:00,” he said.

If you are able to assist, email info@kloofconservancy.org.za, and Ian Sandison will get back to you with details.

“Your support will be greatly appreciated!” he added.

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
