WATCH: Hillcrest couple shows off festive spirit with stellar light displays

In a bid to spread festive cheer, Hillcrest residents continue to light up the neighbourhood.

HILLCREST residents Ricki Gray and Frank George are keeping the festive spirit alive as their house is still decked out with beautiful Christmas decorations.

The couple moved into Manorfields Country Estate 10 years ago, and they were inspired by all the other residents who had decorated their homes at Christmas time.
“We love spreading the joy of Christmas. Our first year, we only had one Christmas light feature in the front bay window – this was a one-metre-high candle with holly and berries,” said Gray.
After that, they were bitten by the Christmas-lighting-display bug – hard.
“We have done it every year since then, but bigger and better every year. Sadly, the public are not allowed in as Manorfields is a gated community,” he said.
The lights are on from 19:00 to 22:00 until January 7.
Gray added that they were grateful to their neighbours Nigel and Joe Hicks who captured the beautiful images of their home.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
