Parker’s the Mann

Parker Mann is a natural-born sportsman who also plays cricket, soccer, rugby, tennis and hockey.

SIX-YEAR-OLD Parker Mann, who was crowned KZN Champion and SA Cup Champion in the six-year-old-and-under novice section, is a Grade One learner at Winston Park Primary School.

Asked how he felt about being crowned SA and KZN champ, he replied, “I’m super happy and proud of myself to get the most points for riding.”

He has only been riding for a year and three months. “Last year was my first year racing. We saw coach Chris Axford training at Giba Gorge Mountain Bike Park and asked if I could start with them because I really like to ride bikes. I enjoy racing because it gets you fit and it’s a lot of fun.”

He is a natural-born sportsman who also plays cricket, soccer, rugby, tennis and hockey. “When I’m not playing sport, I like to ride my mountain bike, swim, and play soccer in the garden.”

The pint-sized speedster has been a proud member of the Queensburgh club for a year. “I will move up to race in the 6-8-year-old expert class this year. My goal this season is to get stronger, learn to manual (going over a whoop on the back wheel with the front of the bike up for more speed), and be number one in SA again.”
