Two suspects nabbed for armed robbery at a Pinetown rank

Two suspects have been charged with robbery, among other charges, after an alleged robbery at a Pinetown taxi rank.

A SUSPECT is in hospital under police supervision after he was shot during a robbery at a Pinetown taxi rank. The Pinetown police reported that they were alerted by a member of the community about a robbery in progress while they were doing their routine duties in the Pinetown CBD. Three suspects allegedly robbed a 27-year-old victim of their cellphone and cash.

“Upon arrival, they saw three men who were armed with firearms. Two suspects fled the scene on foot, and one fired a shot in the direction of the police. Police retaliated, and the suspect sustained a gunshot to his right foot. A 9mm pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspect,” said Pinetown SAPS communications officer Bongumusa Manqele.
