Bail them out

Thirty-one participants will be locked up for 24 hours in a kennel for the Kloof and Highway SPCA's annual Dog Box Challenge to raise funds.

KLOOF and Highway SPCA receptionist Thandeka Mncwanga said she is looking forward to taking part in her first Dog-Box Challenge to raise funds.

Mncwanga will join 30 other brave participants who are taking part in the challenge to raise R10 000 each.

The annual fundraiser will take place from Friday, May 26 to Saturday, May 27.

The participants will be ‘locked up’ for 24 hours from 12:00 on Friday until 12:00 on Saturday.

To show your support, the public can visit the participants on Friday evening in the SPCA’s kennels and enjoy an ice-cold gin and tonic or craft beer, some delicious curry from The Curry Lady and decadent cupcakes from Sweetheart Treats.

People can also enjoy fiery entertainment from Gareth Greaves and more as they display their incredible talent from 18:00.

“This year, we will be dedicating our Dog Box to our dedicated inspectorate team who fight for justice for the voiceless! This year, we acknowledge our inspectors who go to endless court appearances, who spend days sitting and waiting in hallways and rooms while their calls fall behind, and the inspectors who work late – for the animals,” said Kloof and Highway SPCA’s Brigitte Ferguson.

This year, we appeal to the public to acknowledge our incredibly dedicated team of inspectors who continue fighting every single day for justice for our animals, sometimes completely alone and facing unimaginable situations but never faltering in their unwavering dedication.

“We look forward to welcoming people on Friday to visit the ‘inmates’ in our kennels and help us continue the fight against animal cruelty!”

Anyone who would like to donate can contact Brigitte on 031 764 1212 or email marketing@kloofspca.co.za.
