Embo preschool gets an uplift

Heart in Hands founder, Tracey Klokie said they were happy to see their vision for uplifting and refurbishing Isibukosezwe Crèche and Preschool come to life.

HEARTS in Hands NPO (HIH) hosted a small party for the children and staff to celebrate the completion of the exterior phase of their refurbishment project.

The NPO has been working to uplift Isibukosezwe Crèche and Preschool for more than a year.

The children were treated to cake, juice, snacks, treats, face-painting, balloon art, a jumping castle, play and new bikes.

Tracy Klokie, founder of HIH, said they have been working for over a year with this special little education centre.

She said they got to know about the crèche from Pastor Leonard who works tirelessly in the Embo community.

“It has been a great feeling seeing our vision for uplifting and refurbishing this crèche come to life.

“The exterior phase was to repair, fix, replace, seal and waterproof the roof, install brand-new gutters and facia boards, as well as sand, fill, plaster and paint all the exterior walls, including a beautifully bright mural by local artist Giffy.

“We are very grateful to everyone – generous companies, donors and supporters that have helped us reach this milestone of our upliftment project and Orange Heart Outreach for their incredible support in this phase in particular.”

She added that they still have a few more items they would like to action: new flooring and plumbing completion for the children’s ablutions as well as helping to secure porridge donations for the children.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
