Colourful event for charity draws crowds

The Flame Lilly Park, Retirement Village was the designated charity at colour run which was hosted by Thekwini Motor Group.

THE Thekwini Motor Group (TMG) Colour Run took place at Westville Country Club (WCC) recently.

This was the second year that the county club hosted this fun event which seems to be gaining traction.

This year, Flame Lilly Park, Retirement Village was the designated charity. Last year, CAST (Church Alliance for Social Transformation) was the beneficiary.

Westville Country Club chairman Ed Pieret said none of this would have been possible without the support from Thekwini Motor Group (TMG), whose commitment to support Westville and the greater community is amazing.

“Hundreds of hours and resources were poured into making this one of the biggest fun family events in Westville.

The colour run route followed the WCC Eco Trail, which is run and maintained by WCC in conjunction with Westville Conservancy.

“We strive to create a pristine and safe environment where runners, walkers and cyclists can enjoy amazing fauna and flora. Our local schools participate in the maintenance and upkeep of the Eco Trail, by volunteering students who do their ‘community service’ by removing alien vegetation.

“It really is the gem of Westville. WCC spent huge money and effort to rehabilitate the area after the devastating floods in April 2022. It has been a long process but a very rewarding exercise when we see families walking through the Coastal Forest area. Parkrun Westville operates on this route most Saturdays at 08:00.”

Pieret added that it is their privilege to host this memorable event which everyone enjoys.

“It was a great time for the whole family, combining fun and colour to create an unforgettable experience. The colour used is not harmful to the environment, and after a few rains, all signs of the event will vanish. But the colourful pictures of the smiles on everyone’s faces will remain forever! Thank you, once again, to TMG and all the volunteers who came out in numbers,” he said.

I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites.
