WITH its endless sunshine, delicious food and a convergence of a variety of cultures, the City of Durban is the place to be this winter.
Since May in South Africa is known to be a peaceful and welcoming month with greater weather for visitors, Nokuphila Zuma of Durban Tourism shares about places the public can visit in Durban.
She says that in Durban during this time of the year, days are usually warm but nights can be cool. “Durban is rich with many tourist attractions for you to choose from. Whether you are a foodie, want to try your hand at surfing or simply want to absorb as many warm rays as possible, Durban has it all. Whether you are a tourist or a local, we have attractions that will get you falling in love with the coastal city in no time,” says Nokuphila.

Here are Durban Tourism’s recommended places to visit during May:
Check uShaka Marine World: uShaka Marine World is perhaps one of the biggest and most popular tourist attractions along Durban’s Golden Mile and is great for a full day’s activities. It consists of a great variety of activities for the whole family, including the Wet ‘n Wild Waterpark, with tons of thrilling rides, and Sea World.
Visit Mini Town: For a whole new perspective on Durban, pay a visit to Mini Town, situated next to the beachside skatepark. This place has some of Durban’s most iconic buildings scaled down to just above knee height. If you want some unique photos, this is the place to go.
Take a rickshaw ride: The rickshaw rides are one of the most popular tourist attractions in Durban and provide a unique experience. The beautifully decorated carriages showcase the traditional Zulu style, and the rickshaw pullers dress up in traditional Zulu attire. This is a special way to see Durban’s famous Golden Mile.
Visit the Natural Science Museum: If you have some time to kill, pay a visit to the Natural Science Museum which hosts an impressive collection of African animals. On the first floor of the magnificent Durban City Hall, this treasure trove of dinosaurs, fossils and taxidermied predators will enchant both kids and grown-ups.
