Pinetown young model desires to inspire young people

The 13-year-old was announced as a Miss Teen Universe South Africa semi-finalist.

KUNGAWO Nontanda is excited to get a chance to fulfil her dream of competing on a national level.

The 13-year-old was announced as a Miss Teen Universe South Africa semi-finalist at the beginning of this month.

After starting her modelling just under two years ago, Kungawo said this is her third pageant.

“I entered Mr and Miss Faith Primary School, and I was the first princess. I also was in the Top Five in Miss OR Tambo School,” she said.

The St Benedict learner’s love for modelling was sparked by former Miss South Africa, Zozbini Tunzi.

“I love that she inspires young people to stay true to themselves. With my journey, I would also love to inspire young people to be confident.”

When she grows up, Kungawo says she aspires to be a pediatrician. “I love helping people, especially children,” she said.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
