South Africa’s Best Comedy Experience

Presented by Intaka Productions, South Africa’s Best Comedy Experience is set to bring a night of laughter and entertainment to Durban. Taking place at the Playhouse Theatre on November 15 from 19:00, this comedy show will feature some of South Africa’s most celebrated comedic talents. With a star-studded line-up, including Skhumba, Felix Hlophe, Nonto R, Simphiwe Shembe, and Isaac Gampu, the event promises to be an evening of sharp wit, hilarious stories and a unique take on everyday life in South Africa. The show will be hosted by the charismatic MC, Simphiwe Majozi. Tickets are available on Webtickets.

Kings and Queens of Gospel

The Kings and Queens of Gospel will be on November 16 from 18:00.

Gospel lovers are invited to the Kings and Queens of Gospel event. The gospel show raises funds for the Ikhono Foundation’s long-term efforts to help fund the effective implementation of their ongoing and new community outreach projects. Working with gospel talents, the foundation helps transform the lives of many people around the world by reviving spirits, converting lives, mending broken souls and inspiring ordinary people to have a positive outlook on life. Performing this year will be Nontokozo Mkhize, Sindi Ntombela, Nombu Mbhele, Khanyo Mkhize, Dumi Mkokstad, Musa Maseko and Phakama Peekay Gavu.

Enjoy the moving Piano Trios

 

Friends of Music presents the Piano Trios by the eThekwini Trio – three of Durban’s leading musicians, Andrew Warburton (piano), Evgeny Zhadanov (violin) and Ayanda Makulwana (cello). They will get together to play Beethoven, Brahms and the highly moving Elegiac Trio No 1 by Rachmaninov. It’s all happening on Sunday, November 17, at 14:30 at the Durban Jewish Centre. Tickets cost R120 for members and R140 for non-members and will be available at the door.

The programme is as follows:

Brahms: Piano Trio No 3 in C Minor Op 101
Rachmaninov: Elegiac Trio No 1 in G Minor
Interval
Beethoven: Piano Trio No 7 in B-flat Major Op 97 (Archduke)

Finding God in the Hollywood Musical

The Decorative Arts Society’s presentation by Dr Raymond Perrier entitled ‘Finding God in the Hollywood Musical’ will take place at the Visitors’ Centre, Durban Botanic Gardens, on Tuesday, November 19, from 12:30 to 13:30. The fee is R50 for members and R80 for visitors. Christmas fare will be served after the lecture as the society celebrates the final lecture in the 2024 calendar. Contact Lynne on 083 281 2994.
