Eight injured in N3 crash near Shongweni

Employees were involved in a car crash on their way to work on the N3 Pietermaritzburg-bound before Shongweni.

EIGHT people were injured in a collision between two vehicles on Tuesday morning on the N3 Pietermaritzburg-bound before Shongweni. ALS paramedics spokesperson Garrith Smith reported that they responded to the crash just after 06:30.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that two vehicles had collided before one vehicle overturned, coming to rest on its roof in the centre medium. One of the vehicles involved was carrying employees to work when the collision occurred,” he said.

Jamieson said the injured occupants from both vehicles were treated on the scene before being transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.

“The events leading up to the crash are unknown, however, SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further,” said Jamieson.
