Goo Goo Dolls live at Botanic Gardens
Get your tickets ready. Following their South African tour postponement in December, the Goo Goo Dolls are gearing up for four days of live performance in Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria. The Durban leg of the tour will be at the Botanic Gardens on March 28
WITH less than a week to go the Goo Goo Dolls’ live performance at the Durban Botanic Gardens on Friday, March 28, the excitement is building for fans who are eager to see the band following the tour’s postponement last year.
The band had to postpone their South African tour after lead singer, John Rzeznik, was hospitalised following a pneumonia diagnosis on December 1. The SA tour includes Cape Town and Pretoria. Organisers, Goodlife Productions, said the venue had to be changed from the Durban ICC to the open space of the Botanic Gardens due to the venue no longer being available.
“Following Johnny’s unfortunate hospitalisation and progressing recovery, we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure this event happens without compromise,” said Goodlife Productions. “The Durban ICC did everything in their power to accommodate us back into their schedule, but due to conflicts, including the BRICS Summit, no suitable dates were available. With limited options in a narrow booking window, we’ve chosen this earliest possible week based on the band’s confined touring schedule to bring you the experience you deserve.”

As tickets for the show had already been sold last year, the organisers had to make some changes in respect of the picnic style of the venue.
Ticket holder information:
• Golden Circle ticket holders: Your tickets remain unchanged. You will still be at the very heart of the show, enjoying every moment up close! As an original Golden Circle ticket holder, you will also now receive early access to the venue along with access to a VIP bar. We will be in contact with those ticket holders regarding this process.
• General Access ticket holders: Your tickets remain valid, and you’ll still be part of this unforgettable night with the Goo Goo Dolls. General access does allow for picnic blankets and camping chairs.
• Seated ticket holders: Your ticket has automatically been upgraded to Golden Circle. Golden Circle does allow for picnic blankets.
The gates to the venue open at 18:00 and Roan Ash with his genre-blending sound that fuses folk, blues, and country will open for the band at 18:50. The Goo Goo Dolls will start their electrifying night performance of their greatest hits, including Iris, Slide, Black Balloon, Here Is Gone, Name, Boxes, and many more from 20:00.
