Good Trouble rocks Rhumbelow

Durban band Good Trouble Blues are gearing up to rock the Rhumbelow Theatre Northlands Bowling Club with their Rolling Stones tribute show The Stones Unbroken on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27.

Good Trouble Blues was formed in 2023 by lead singer and local music teacher Andrew Miller. Together with the skills of guitarists Andre Adkins and Connor Jensen, bassist Lucian Young, and experienced drummer Matthew David, they will rock the stage at 19:30 on Saturday and 18:30 on Sunday. Known for their electrifying performances and soulful sound, Good Trouble Blues is ready to bring a fresh spin to some of rock’s most iconic anthems. Roland Stansell of Rhumbelow Theatre said the Rolling Stones tribute show promises to be a night of raw energy, blues-rock power, and deep-rooted musical passion.

“Fans can expect classic hits like Start Me Up and Paint It Black, delivered with GTB’s signature flair, making this a show not to be missed. Bring food picnic baskets or buy at the venue,” said Stansell.

Rhumbelow Theatre Northlands Bowling Club is located at 50 Margaret Maytom Avenue in Durban North. The venue opens 90 minutes before the show starts. There is a bar available and limited secure parking on site. Tickets for the show cost R200 on both nights and can be purchased via Webticket.

Edgar Muzah live in Durban

Edgar Muzah and Friends will be performing live at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music at the UKZN Jazz Centre on Friday, April 25.

Fans of the Eastern Cape ensemble, Edgar Muzah and Friends, have much to look forward to as the band, supported by the Concerts SA Mobility Fund, bring their award-winning album Son of a Tribe to life with performances at UKZN Jazz Centre on Friday, April 25, from 17:30.

Their diverse musical influences, which showcase interplay between the refined elegance of the Royalty edition and the raw energy of Son of a Tribe will have fans moving to their unique sounds of music. “By transcending conventional genres, it invites listeners on an adventurous auditory journey, where innovative rhythms and creative melodies collide, enriching the listening experience and redefining the essence of modern music,” said the event organisers.

Tickets for the performance at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music at Howard College Campus, UKZN, range from R95 to R150 and can be purchased via Webticket.

Umgeni Steam Railway train trips

Travel from Inchanga Railway Station to Botha’s Hill and back again on the Umgeni steam train on April 27.

Take in the view of the Valley of 1000 Hills aboard an old steam engine on Sunday, April 27, from Inchanga Railway Station. This roughly 75 minutes trip meanders along the rolling hills of KZN, through one of the oldest operating tunnels in South Africa, with the sights of the Valley of 1000 Hills in the distance, before turning around at Botha’s Hill for the return to Inchanga.

Rhythm and Beats Sensation

Griffith Malo, Bon Bon, Tayza da Gregory, Dazz, Alox and Mr Five have been listed among the must-see acts of the Rhythm and Beats Sensation. The concert, which will also feature Skapela and Essencesoul, Rizzler, and Morena Da Deejay, will be hosted at the Westridge Tennis Court on Saturday, April 26, from 14:00. Songs and Hymns to give praise

Praise and worship with Songs and Hymns in a post-Easter concert at The Playhouse Theatre on Saturday, April 26.

UKZN’s Centre for Jazz and Popular Music festival

In the spirit of International Jazz Day, established by UNESCO to highlight jazz’s role in uniting people worldwide, UKZN’s Centre for Jazz and Popular Music, in association with the Centre for Creative Arts (CCA) and the South African Association for Jazz Education (SAJE), presents a series of events celebrating jazz. It starts off on International Jazz Day, 30 April, at UKZN’s Howard College Campus. Tickets cost: R130 (General), R95 (Pensioners), R65 (Students).
