Take a hike and raise awareness on autism

Be The Best Version of Yourself Foundation invites residents for an exciting hike while raising awareness on autism.

APRIL is Autism Awareness Month, and the Be The Best Version of Yourself (BTBVOY) Foundation invites residents to unite for a purpose-driven day in nature through its powerful Hike for Inclusion.

The hike will be held at the Paradise Valley Nature Reserve on Saturday, April 26.

On the day, there will be a guided 5km hike through scenic trails, delicious food and refreshments, a fun-filled Easter egg hunt, and engaging autism-inclusive activities designed for children of all abilities.

The Hike for Inclusion also marks the start of BTBVOY’s awareness and fundraising journey leading up to its next Mount Kilimanjaro Climb in 2026 — a biannual tradition that raises vital support for underrepresented causes.

Following the successful 2022/2024 climbs, which focused on the deaf community, cancer awareness, mental well-being, and youth empowerment through the Skills Village, the 2026 climb shifts its lens to Autism Awareness, support for the blind, and the continued growth of the Youth Skills Village movement.

Campaign manager Arlene Cairncross said these climbs and local events are not just symbolic — they create real impact, fund real solutions, and build real bridges toward inclusion.

“At the heart of BTBVOY’s mission is a simple yet profound belief: every person deserves the chance to be the best version of themselves.

“This vision was born through the personal journey of founder Nolan Pillay, a global award-winning mindset specialist and speaker whose transformation from hardship to healing inspires the foundation’s work today.

“While Nolan continues to lead initiatives like the Kilimanjaro climbs and the upcoming release of his new book this April, this movement is far greater than one person — it’s a growing community of purpose-driven individuals, youth leaders, and allies working for lasting change,” said Cairncross.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
