Support eThekwini Ratepayers Movement’s fundraising event

The 'Pick-A-Box For Change' fundraising event will be held in Westville to raise awareness around the work that the Ratepayers movement do to champion for ratepayers and residents of eThekwini.

THE eThekwini Ratepayers Movement (ERPM) in conjunction with Westville Ratepayers will host a ‘Pick-A-Box For Change’ fundraising event at the Westville Civic Centre on Friday, May 9 from 18:30 to 21:30.

Westville resident and ERPM deputy chair Rose Cortes said the event is held to raise awareness around the work they do to champion for ratepayers and residents of eThekwini.

“There has been a steady decline in service delivery in our beautiful city and the need for ratepayers to develop a strong voice has never been more important.

“The work we do under the ERPM is critical to ensuring that we reach a point where consequence management and accountability aren’t just buzz words – but translate into action from the City to ensure a sustainable future for all who live here.”

She added that this event aims to develop a stronger sense of community, raise some funds to keep the organisation strong, and demonstrate that communities deserve better than what they’re receiving from the municipality.

The fee is R200 per person and there will be prizes up for grabs. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Contact Cortes on 083 290 5492 for details.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
